If you want to send a text, but don’t want to be limited by the tiny keypad and screen of your mobile phone, try opening the mail program on your computer. In the TO: field, type in the number and the carrier address.
If you don’t know the carrier, enter the number in 123-456-7890 format at:
http://www.whitepages.com/reverse_phone
For example, Verizon is:
number@vtext.com (where number is the cellphone #).
Alltel: @message.alltel.com
Nextel: @messaging.nextel.com
Spring: @messaging.sprintpcs.com
SunCom: @tms.suncom.com
T-mobile: @tmomail.net
VoiceStream: @voicestream.net
Test it on your cellphone, to make sure it works.
