Some term abbreviations for you “newbies” out there:
ROI – Return on Investment
IT – Information Technology
404 – Refers to Error Pages which can often be customized (e.g. – “The page you requested was not found on this server”)
B2B – Business to Business
B2C – Business to Customer (or Consumer)
ISP – Internet Service Provider
SE – Search Engine
SEO – Search Engine Optimization
PR – Page Rank
PPC – Pay Per Click (a type of advertising service with some search engine where you pay a premium each time someone clicks on the link to your website)
URL – Uniform Resource Locator (a short way of saying “your web address”)
SERP – Search Engine Results Page (how far down or how close to the top your site is when you try to find it on a search engine)
IP – Internet Provider Spider – A program used by search engines to locate websites and store the contents of the pages.
BLOG – web log (online diary for posting comments)
SPAM – unsolicited and unwanted advertisements
W3C – Worldwide Web Consortium (group that sets standards for web programming languages)
HTML – Hypertext Markup Language
CSS – Cascading Style Sheets
